Why Do You Smile?
Why Do You Smile?
My flight crew November 3, 2002
I was flying with two flight attendants, Rose and Karen, who both watched me share the Lord with a passenger named Salvador, who was on his way to his 19 year old sister’s memorial service. She had tragically died in a car accident. Karen questioned me regarding the things I shared with him. She said she had noticed I had a peaceful way about myself. I shared this came from God, and He was the One who gave it to me. She went on and asked more questions. I felt lead to share my testimony with her, and told her I would be praying God would clearly reveal Himself to her.
Lord, Karen wants You. She is seeking You. I ask Father that You would send others to her to share Your love to her, to sow the seeds. I pray she would surrender to You.
During the last flight, Karen asked me to explain more about the prayer someone prays to receive Jesus into their life. I was overjoyed as I shared the prayer with her and what it meant, along with my desire to pray it with her. There was not an appropriate place for me to lead her in prayer without confusion. I did not want her to be distracted by the people passing by. I felt the Lord speak to my heart regarding her; this needs to be genuine between her and the Lord. The decision needs to be important to her and she needs to fully understand what she was doing. So I gave her a NY CD with the prayer to receive Jesus on it. I told her to seek out a quiet place and listen to the voice of God, and then to ask Him to speak to her, and touch her heart.
Lord, open the eyes and ears of Karen. Please lift the veil and reveal her sin to her and save her soul. I ask that You would provide the perfect place to speak to her heart and reveal Yourself to her. I pray she receives You Jesus as her personal Savior…In Jesus name Amen

I was in the flight attendant lounge before I took off when I found a greeting card in my flight box from Karen. She wrote she had listened to the NY CD and had prayed to receive Jesus into heart! She said the prayer! SHE IS SAVED!!! Wow! She also stated she began reading her Bible! “Oh Lord,” I prayed, “Please help her find a good church.” I then left some addresses for her.

The other flight attendant, Rose, who was also on the same flight with Karen and I, also started asking about Jesus and prayer. She grew up Catholic, and shared that she mediates on Jesus. I asked her if she knew Him personally and if she has ever prayed the Salvation prayer.
I gently clarified, “You know, the one about asking God to forgive you of all your sins, and asking Him into your heart and life as your personal Savior, and teaching you to walk in His ways?”
She answered with surprise, “No, I don’t know the prayer.” She then began to share how her husband had found Jesus this way. He had tried all religions, even Buddha. He found peace only through Jesus.
It sounded to me like Rose’s husband had been praying for her, but she was fighting against him and Jesus. Rose shared how she has noticed a huge change in her husband’s life since receiving Jesus.
Lord, I pray You would break the chains which bind her, and reach her soul. Lord, show me how to reach her for You. In Jesus name Amen.
