Myth-Understood

I have been marked by an immoral – false – reputation. I am Mary Magdalene. Marked by harmful gossip, slander, and hurtful misinformation. Reputed to have committed prostitution, adultery, sorcery and even confused with sweet Mary of Bethany who anointed Jesus feet with her alabaster jar of perfume. “Without wood the fire goes out; without gossip a quarrel dies down.” (Proverbs 26:20)

Fact – I was a broken soul delivered from seven demons. The truth is this is all that is written in the scriptures of my past life before I was freed from being strangled by Satan. When I met Jesus, He drove out the spirits with a word. (Matthew 8:16) By the word of His power I was made whole, normal and accepted. He emptied me of seven demons, washed me clean, and then filled me with His Spirit. He transformed me. He gave me a reason for living. My heart was so full of gratitude I gave Him my unending devotion. For “she who was delivered from much, loved much!” Jesus broke my chains forever. I am honestly marked by His compassion. He crushed all my fears with His perfect love. My gratitude leads me to the garden. His Passion lead me to follow, along with the disciples as He shared with us His Kingdom. I watched in mourning as He died on the cross for me, for us. Alas, I was the first one in the garden when He appeared at His resurrection and the first words He spoke was to me. He said, “Why are you crying?” What a Savior we have. For in His hour of greatest triumph, He comes quietly to me who grieves…who desperately needs to hear His voice…see His face…and feel His embrace. And now I am eternally in the garden where there are no more tears, only joy, basking in His love for all eternity.
