This is My Beloved Son

This is My Beloved Son

Matthew 3:17

“And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit. The Trinity. The Father loved the Son. The Son honored the Father. The three of them dwell together in complete harmony, in total satisfaction. They are One.

Frank took me to his favorite city in the world-Prague. It soon became mine. I fell in love with everything and everyone in this ancient place. One day we walked into the stunning beautiful church St. Vitus Cathedral and my eyes went straight to the stain glass windows. This window took my breath away as I looked at my Father holding His Son with the Spirit around them. God’s love for me spoke deeply as I saw Him holding Jesus after paying the deadly price for my sin so I may have life with them for all eternity. True love once again spoke into my heart. We are all God’s creation, but due to sin in a fallen world we are broken. God in His love for us sent His beautiful beloved Son to piece us back together. He did this on the cross. The cross means love in action. Because of Jesus we are no longer in broken pieces like the stain glass but rather a beautiful masterpiece created by a most loving God.

This painting was the most painful to paint due to each piece having to be painted separately. As I painted I would listen to Phil Wickham’s Heaven & Earth CD. I love the song, “Cielo”, as he sings, “I can’t bow low enough”… I found myself trying to see through my tears as I painted. Then I would click in to listen to Pastor Ray teach at Maranatha Chapel and would once again end up tearing as he read the very verse I had just named this painting. God loves to confirm with His word as He works out His plan even with a painting. The original now hangs at Maranatha Chapel in San Diego, California.
