Sterling
Sterling
Sterling’s secret place by the water as I read Psalm 18 and he hunted for bugs. Sitting on a huge boulder I read the Psalm as it starts off by David declaring, “I will love You, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” It was a sweet parallel, as we felt safe and secure sitting on the huge rock reading “God is my rock.” My husband Frank then asked Sterling a wonderful question…” Do you know God’s purpose for creating you?” Sterling shook his head no. His answer was no to a very important question, one that we all need to know and understand. My husband went on to say, “He created you so He could love you and have fellowship with you and for you to love Him in return. He loves it when you talk to Him and just want to be with Him. Fellowship just means hanging out together sharing everything together. He just wants to be with you.” I could see it register in his ten year old mind. How precious and simple our purpose really is; we don’t need to strive in our relationship with the Lord, or perform for Him. He just desires fellowship with us. He wants an intimate relationship.
No one will ever know you like the Lord knows you, and no one will ever love you the way He loves you. His sole purpose for creating you was to love you. His love is truly unconditional, and you will find this in no other person other than Him. He created you to love you. How extraordinary! He is beyond creative! He is a master artist! And you are the master’s masterpiece, created to be loved by Him, with a love beyond the heavens.
