Party Girl
Party Girl
It was Valentine’s Day 2001, and I was flying with two other flight attendants who both had a reputation as “the party girls.” God purposely did this…I just knew it. He had given me a heart for young women and ladies who were much like these two. Flying with one of these young ladies for three days, was very grueling and difficult. She knew I was a Jesus lover, and would direct many negative comments toward me regarding my faith. I was in a Spiritual battle for three days.
On the last day flying together, the other flight attendant started asking questions about Jesus. The following week I flew with her again. This young lady was beautiful, soft spoken, trendy, loved to party, and was constantly in a troubled relationship with a guy. I knew God was using my past in relating to her, and allowed Him full access to whatever He needed or wanted to use.
This young woman needed to feel loved, accepted and wanted. I explained to her she will never find this in a person (man), but God arranged it so only He could meet every need and desire within our hearts. Not through a man. She confessed that the man she was living with was unwilling to commit to her, and how this made her feel used. Tragic thing was…she was being used, but also she needed to understand she was using him too. I shared we’re all sinners in need of Jesus’ saving grace. I gave her my phone number at the end of the trip in case she wanted to talk more. Her name was written on the canvas when I arrived home. I think I prayed for her almost every day along with my home-fellowship.
March 25, 2001
More than a month had gone by when out of the blue; I received a phone call from this precious flight attendant, who also happened to live in San Diego. I was overcome with joy as she asked if she could go to church with me that night. Yes! I had to control my excitement. “Yes, would you like to meet for coffee first?” She agreed, so we met up early. She shared how she had not been able to stop thinking about our conversation, and decided to go to church to give God a chance. She raised her hand, and received Jesus into her heart and made a commitment to Him. She had been searching for this Man her entire life, and found Him that night. Her life began to change as she learned how much Jesus loved her and how very valuable she was to Him. Her boyfriend moved out, and day-by-day God did the transforming work in her life as she surrendered to Him. In the year 2008, she was married to the one God had planned for her. She now belonged to Jesus.
