Go Talk To Her
Go Talk To Her
Late one evening after taking the last flight to Oakland where I was stationed, exhausted from my travels, I walked into the flight attendant lounge, looking forward to much needed sleep. They had a few closets available for employees that we could lock for privacy, roll up and catch a snooze. I was completely worn out and couldn’t wait to curl up with my soft, comfy pillow. I looked around the room and found only one other person in the lounge. It was a young woman, who sat with a blank stare in front of the television, almost in a zombie like state. I put my roller bag in the closet, and then grabbed my toothbrush when I heard Him speak to my heart, “Go talk to her”…I ignored Him and went along with what I was doing. I heard Him say again, “Go talk to her”…”No, Lord this can’t be You. I’m so tired; I just want to brush my teeth and go to sleep.” He continued…”Go talk to her.”
As I was rinsing the toothpaste out of my mouth, she got up and started to walk my way. Because I didn’t listen to the Lord and make the first move towards her, God had her move in my direction. She struck up conversation, and I stood there for quite some time listening, when all of a sudden our conversation took a turn.
Two hours slipped by without notice as this beautiful young woman poured her heart out to me. She was in serious trouble. She was married with two young children, and had made a very tragic mistake. She had committed sin with another man, and was now pregnant with his baby. She confessed she was a backslidden Christian, and knew she had broken God’s heart by walking away from Him. Thus she lived a life for herself, which resulted in this grievous circumstance. She knew full well she sinned and was not right with God.
The tears flowed endlessly as she fell down on her knees in the flight attendant lounge, and cried out to God for His forgiveness. Through the raw emotion and tears she asked Jesus to come back into her life and heart. I knew from that moment on she was indeed saved. I then watched in utter joy as she raised her hands up toward heaven and worshiped Him with everything within her.
God fulfilled His purpose in this special young woman’s soul; even though I would not listen and “go talk to her”.
