Daughter’s After God’s Own Heard – DAGOH

Dedicated to DAGOH-Daughters after God’s own heart

I believe in the church family, as God desires us to be linked together with unity and accountability. We would see fewer problems in the church today if we had fewer “lone rangers” unaccountable to anyone else. This is why it is so important to learn from those who are more mature in their faith, as well as teaching those who have just begun their journey with Jesus; generation to generation.

There are those who fail to look out for those around them, thus are only focused on themselves. If you are not outward focused you

are inward focused. Thinking only of yourself will lead to despair, but considering the needs of others leads to a life of blessings and joy.

I have observed time and time again when a person has reached out to mentor and equip another soul; they are filled with the joy of the Lord. Through mentoring, they experience real purpose in life whether they realize it or not. God loves to use His people to accomplish His work in the lives of His children. I think it’s kinda cool how generous God is and even gracious to use people like us. It’s truly a blessed life when we are seeking first the kingdom and heavenly matters.

I love John 10:10-11, where Jesus states, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep”.

Jesus is teaching people something powerful through the scriptures in John. He gave His life for us and He is teaching all of us to do the same. Why? Because this is where we will find life. We must give. When we give we experience joy. This is truly dying to self and living for Christ and others (1 Peter 2:21). When we make the decision to come along side another soul we are genuinely investing in heaven. The only true way to invest in a soul is through the Lord. He will divinely lead you to the person and then in His time, reveal their heart. This will have nothing to do with your own abilities but God’s (1 Peter 4:11). Allow Jesus to show you through His Word how he invested in others and respond by doing the same with people in your life. The Holy Spirit will do the rest. With great humility, you will learn to be fully reliant on the Holy Spirit. Sometimes it will make sense what God is telling you to do or to whom and then again it may make no sense at all.

I love the story of Phillip. He’s an excellent example of God moving in his life, even when he didn’t understand or comprehend all God was doing in and though him. But most importantly, he was available and obedient to God, and allowed the Holy Spirit to lead him. In Acts 8, we read of a great revival which took place in Samaria through the ministry of Philip. Suddenly, however, the Spirit took Philip away and plopped him right in the desert to speak to a man. This didn’t make sense according to church growth manuals. A person does not leave a revival to speak to one man. But the Spirit knew exactly what He was doing, for from this one man, all of northern Africa was reached with the gospel.

After God prepared me through a season of brokenness, I remember a young lady named Sarah prayed if it was God’s will she would bump into me at church. She had a serious question to ask to me. Apparently she and a young woman named Karen were praying for a Bible study leader for the college and career aged women, and for whatever reason I popped into her mind and she started praying, “Lord, if it is Tammy please set up a divine appointment and have me bump into her”.

After the church service ended, for some peculiar reason, I decided to go to the restroom located in an area I never go to. When I walked in, there stood Sarah. She knew at that point that she was to ask me. We sat down and she shared her and Karen’s vision. I prayed with her and we both had complete peace in doing the bible study.

The following Sunday, the three of us took Pastor Glenn out to lunch to ask for his approval and for his covering. We received a big “yes”, his covering and prayer commenced. This was the beginning of a five-year Bible study every Friday night where lifelong friendships were made.

As I was learning more about my walk with Jesus, and being poured into by my mentors, I was pouring into younger women. Thus, I was learning from those who were more knowledgeable about the Christian walk than me, and I was teaching those who were younger in their faith.

God calls us to keep it flowing from one generation to the next. The fruit that came from those five years together is still unfolding, and I am in awe to have been part of what God was doing in these special women’s lives.

It has now passed from their generation to the next. This just floors me! How beautifully God orchestrates His plans.

I know one young lady is now working at Maranatha Chapel, and is involved in counseling, along with other aspects of ministry. Another young lady worked in women’s ministry there at Maranatha for a number of years, and another is a nurse at Maranatha’s school. Many have gone on mission’s trips to Africa, China, Israel and other places to share Jesus. A few of them lead their own Bibles studies, and two women were involved in ministering through the visual arts and music. They have become beautiful wives and mothers. I learned to apply Titus 2:3-5, which was passed on from my mentor Terry to these ladies; the most important of all scriptures for us ladies to learn. I sometimes pinch myself that I was part of this incredible group of ladies. They will forever be my friends and they will forever be in my heart! I love you DAGOH-Daughters after God’s own heart! Pass it on…

Verse for: DAGOH-Daughters after God’s own heart

Jesus said, “And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.”
